The association Alsace Nature was founded in 1965 and is a federation that brings together individual members and associations. Alsace Nature is recognized as a public-utility association for environmental protection and is affiliated to France Nature Environnement.

Alsace Nature is based on values :Our goal is : - To bring together and coordinate members' good will and efforts in order to preserve sites and landscapes and all their elements - ground, water, wildlife, natural environment, to build sites, to defend or rehabilitate a living environment that guarantees the means for his material existence and his spiritual fulfilment for every human being
- To inform and raise awareness concerning every aspect of the essential respect our life space requires
- To initiate and maintain relationships with the administration, elected officials and corporate bodies
- To take part in Consultative Committees
- To study and suggest measures for the conservation of landscape and natural monuments
- To carry out research and analysis into soil, water and air pollution and the general condition of wildlife, landscapes and the natural environment
- To take advantage of all legally available means to defend nature

The paper “40 proposals for a collective action ” constitutes a “work sheet” for Alsace Nature. Alsace Nature relies on people who share and spread those values and ideas Every day, many volunteers (more than 300) work for general interest programmes on nature and environmental protection.
These volunteers are divided between Executive Committees, institutional representations, Subject Networks and sector-based groups.
More generally, Alsace Nature has 3000 individual members and 147 federative associations.
A motivated team of employees at the disposal of our volunteers is focused on :
