France Nature EnvironnementThe National Federation Of Associations For Environmental ConservationOrigins of the federation The "Fédération Française des Sociétés de Protection de la Nature" (FFSPN) was founded in 1968 with the aim of uniting national, regional, departmental and local associations within a group wherein each association would keep its originality and autonomy while working towards the same objectives. This was renamed "France Nature Environnement" in 1990. It became a state-approved association in 1976 and now the federation and its federated associations are the main negotiator with national authorities on environmental issues. The Hedgehog Symbol The logo of France Nature Environnement and of many other federated associations, including Alsace Nature, is a hedgehog. It is a perfect symbol for the dual strategy of dialogue and raising objections. Rubbed the right way, on its right side (dialogue), the hedgehog doesn’t prick you. However if a hedgehog doesn’t agree, he will make sure to tell you. An "Umbrella" Federation FNE brings together nearly 3000 associations all over France and all working for to improve conservation of nature and the environment. National, regional, departmental or local associations together constitute a movement of active citizens within which the Federation is striving to promote exchanges. A Representative Federation As a meeting place for knowledge and skills, FNE brings together the observation and analysis work carried out by member associations and ensures diffusion to its different partners. As an active member of the major national Consultative Committees, the Federation is the spokesperson for thousands of volunteers and thus enriches environment knowledge and helps build a new social model. A Leading and Supporting Federation Critical environmental issues involve permanent commitment from the great majority. By encouraging information flow, FNE facilitates the synergy between volunteers who have worked daily for many years to build a well-balanced environment. The association network it is developing enables FNE to lead actions which may thus have an influence on a nationwide scale. The Federation supports all projects developed by its federated associations whether they are working on the preservation of natural areas, raising citizens' awareness or improving environment laws For more information: http://www.fne.asso.fr/ |
